and in some cases, our interests are actually mutual with the united states and iran, so i think it is an important country without -- i think they've had a problem for many, many years with the west. particularly with the united states. where they believe, whether it's true or not, but they believe that the u.s. is out to get them. out to destroy the regime and overthrow the regime. even this recent delisting of the opposition group that was in iraq, they claim is another example of the u.s. only interested in changing the regime. we have many, many issues between the u.s. and iran over the 30 years, the nuclear age has gotten to the point now where we have harsh, harsh sanctions hurting the people, the economy, everyone. probably not the regime so much. >> not as tough as they should, at least from our reporting. if you were really trying to shut things down. >> well, they're not that lenient. i think people find a way to get around. >> leaky. >> sorry. but i think that right now, with these sanctions, iran would like to come kind of f agreement with the west, but they want san

thing he pledged to do if he were to become president of the united states is repeal obama care and roll back all of those same provisions for americans. there are millions of americans who have benefited and now have health insurance who didn't before, thanks to obama care. the young adults who can stay on their parents insurance until they're 26, seniors who are saving an average of $600 on their prescription drugs thanks to obama care, closing the doughnut hole. and the first thing that mitt romney would do is the incredibly compassionate thing of repealing all of those reforms and leaving seniors and children and young adults in a situation where their health care is prohibitively expensive and if you have a pre-existing condition you can be dropped by insurance companies once again. >> it is a little bit of a whiplash factor to figure out, is it an advantage or disadvantage, talking about it or not talk about it. i do want to speak though and get your, pert background about the two big factors in your home state, senior vote and jewish vote. when it comes to medicare, the fight is n

leads to economic growth here in the united states. >> yes, as i mentioned in the column, i brought a version of that chart to see paul ryan a year or so ago when hes and a member of congress and, like a lot of journalists i spoke to him regularly about economic pr policy and said, how do you square this chart with the idea tax cuts are the most important factor in creating economic growth? you don't need a chart, think about the last 20 years or so. h.w. bush first, then bill clinton raised taxes, all of these predictions of doom, instead we had the '90s boom and george w. bush cut taxes and there were predictions of prosperity and instead we had the slowest decade since world war ii and then the crisis. none of this is to say that tax cuts cause economic problems or tax increases lead to prosperity. i don't know anyone who seriously makes that argument. the question is, how important are tax cuts to economic growth? and i don't know how you look at recent history and say that relatively modest changes in the top marginal tax rate is the main force driving the american economy. >>
